HUDAK’S BOARD NOTES – JULY 2007
CSAP RESULTS
There will be a press conference to release this year’s CSAP results on July 31 at 10:30 a.m. at CDE. The event should last about 1 hour. Governor Ritter will be there to speak.
P-20 COUNCIL
The P-20 Council will hold its first meeting on August 6, 12:30 p.m., at Pikes Peak Community College, Rampart Range Campus, 11195 Highway 83 (I-25 and Interquest Parkway, Exit #153). The members of the subcommittees of the Council have not been named as of yet, but Commissioner Jones assured the SBE that we will play a strong role in the work of the subcommittees. The following are the subcommittee topics:
- Early Childhood
- Data and Accountability (data systems and accountability methods)
- Teacher Recruitment, Preparation, and Retention
- Preparation and Transitions (postsecondary preparation, matriculation, and completion)
- Dropout Prevention and Recovery (high school and college attrition)
SBE RETREAT
The SBE’s Retreat will be held on August 29-30. We have no details yet about the exact times or the location, but it will probably be all day on the 29th and half a day on the 30th, and it will probably be held somewhere in Summit County.
UPCOMING BOARD MEETINGS
- August 8 – SBE Work Session, with the appeal hearing of the Denver Collegiate Academy Charter School vs. Denver Public Schools at 1:30 p.m., and 2nd appeal hearing of the Sterling Charter Academy vs. the Valley School District at 3:00 p.m.
- August 9 – SBE Regular Meeting, with a hearing on the permanent rules for the Read to Achieve Grant Program at 9:45 a.m. and a hearing on revisions to the rules for the Public School Finance Act at 10 a.m. (part of the revisions to the rules for the Finance Act will be the addition of rules for the Fast College Fast Jobs Program, as well as the revisions regarding 5th-year options and online enrollment made at the May 10, 2007, meeting).
- September 5 – SBE Work Session.
- September 6 – SBE Regular Meeting.
